In September 2004, the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council (CS&H ISC) embarked on a review of the Health Training Package HLT02 as part of a continuous improvement process. The aim of the review was to develop national qualifications and competency standards for Enrolled Nurses within the Health Training Package (HLT02). The major findings from the consultation undertaken during the scoping phase of the HLT02 Review include: the need for flexibility and innovation in defining work roles to meet the demands of a changing workforce and consumer base; the need for training to provide the level of flexibility required by industry without compromising on quality educational outcomes; the need for skills clusters to be explicitly built-in to the revised Health Training Package; the need for clearer qualification pathways to be created within the training package; and the need to develop a greater range of support materials for providers of the training package.
