The Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA) are four accredited certificates which allow adults who have not completed secondary education to improve their literacy, numeracy and general education skills. In this article, the author says that although units of competency are the basic units used in training packages, it does not mean they are inappropriate for use in CGEA and makes a case for using units of competency in the CGEA.
