The report draws on a project that aimed to: investigate and report on the use of controlled vocabularies in the VTE sector with particular attention to vocabularies recommended in Vetadata, which is explicitly about describing resources; and research and make recommendations on how to make it easier to manage, access and use vocabularies. The Vetadata profile has been available for just over a year and, although substantial recognition and support for the profile in the VTE sector is apparent, actual implementation is in the early stages. A range of measures to facilitate the implementation and use of Vetadata and its associated vocabularies are made under the following categories: Vetadata maintenance and usage; describing resources for non-accredited training; usage of specific Vetadata elements and vocabularies; facilitating management, access and use of vocabularies; tools for vocabulary usage and management; and vocabulary mappings.
