This is one of a series of papers prepared on request from the Director-General of Further Education, to be a submission to the Committee of Enquiry into Education in South Australia. It examines the influences of demographic factors on technical and further education (TAFE) in South Australia. Demography is essentially concerned with the study of changes in human populations. This includes birth rates, death rates, timing of child bearing, internal migration and international migration. This paper emphasises important changes occurring in the population and the demands these are placing on the TAFE system.
