This study comprised a comprehensive content analysis of some of the major journals focusing on comparative and international adult education. The journals are: (1) 'International journal of lifelong education' published by Routledge (UK); (2) 'Convergence', published by the International Council for Adult Education (Uruguay, formerly in Canada) and NIACE (UK); and (3) 'Studies in the education of adults', published by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (England and Wales) (NIACE). The study addressed several questions: How is the contribution of authors from different countries represented in the publications of selected journals from 1990 to 2004? How is comparative adult education represented in the selected journals from 1990 to 2004? How do the types of comparative articles and research vary in these journals across the last 14 years (1990-2004)? How do research topics vary in these journals across the last 14 years?
