The aim of the project 'Ageing and employment: identification of good practice to increase job opportunities and maintain older workers in employment' (AEIGP) was to increase job opportunities and maintain older workers in employment by providing information on the emergence of 'good practice' in 11 European Union (EU) Member States. The focus of the research was on 41 organisational case studies and this was complemented by an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the national institutional framework within which the organisations operate and an exploration of selected good practice examples of initiatives of social partners, non-government organisations (NGOs) and national or regional policy-makers. This report contains: Executive summary; Introduction; Methodological framework; Overview of case studies; The economic and labour market conditions of older individuals: international comparison; The institutional and political conditions: strengths and weaknesses of policy reforms; The relationship between age and productivity; Working conditions and work ability; Lifelong learning: consequences for older workers; Human resource management, work organisation and working time: ways to enhance mobility and flexibility; The role of the social partners; Mapping out good practice - and how we can learn from it?; Conclusions and recommendations.
