This report is the work of the Strategy 21 Task Group, which was established in 1997 by TAFE Queensland Board of Studies. Its purpose was to research future markets and products and identify modern and innovative delivery practices to prepare TAFE for a period of rapid change in the TAFE sector between 1997-2001. The report looks at the present environment and the likely future in four to five years' time, and provides an analysis of the gaps between the present and the future, and the steps needed to facilitate a successful transition. The report provides an overview of a future scenario based on current trends and opinions of those in the vocational education and training (VET) field, industry bodies, researchers and market analysts to present a practical response for TAFE Queensland to these trends.
