This guide was developed to assist staff in registered training organisations (RTOs) to work more effectively with their clients or learners who live with mental illness. It is intended to contribute to learner retention and to enhance planning for success. It assists with learner retention and with planning for success, and covers information about mental illness and how it may affect learning. The guide is illustrated with case studies and promotes a whole-of-life approach to training and learning. The handbook comes with two other resources: (1) the facilitators' kit provides information on how the Staying the Course package can be used in an organisation; and (2) the presentation slides are a set of Powerpoint slides for use in providing professional development within an organisation.
