A follow-up study of field-based teacher preparation

Although recent studies and the resultant media lead stories suggest otherwise, the problems associated with attracting and developing teachers within the field of vocational-technical education (i.e. career and technical) have existed for many years. This article describes a unique long-term partnership between the Pennsylvania Department of Education and higher education institutions engaged in the preparation of career and technical teachers that has produced a model field-based program for induction and Level I certification.
