TAFE student services: industry and community perceptions

As one of three studies into student services being conducted by Australian TAFE, this second part of the study investigates the requirements of industry and community in regard to student services, and seeks to verify the findings in stage one of the study. The first report, 'Survey of industry and community perceptions of TAFE student services', is attached as an appendix to this document. Respondents surveyed were asked their views on the priority of each student service, and also rated their satisfaction with the services offered. Findings indicate that for industry respondents the most important service by far was TAFE's flexibility in meeting individual company training needs, closely followed by course and lecture timing. For community respondents, guidance/counselling services and amenities were the most important, followed by transport and security. Course and lecture timing was the most important consideration in both course and institution selection. The report concludes with a number of recommendations.
