Career starters' interpersonal-transferable skills needs: a comparative multidisciplinary study in five European countries

The project reported in this paper surveyed graduates and career starters from different educational backgrounds, looking at their perceptions of interpersonal-transferable skills, aiming to identify the cluster of skills need by graduates and career starters from different educational backgrounds (science, humanities and vocational education) and disciplines (business, technical, sciences, social sciences) in five European countries (Hungary, Greece, Italy, Slovak Republic, and the UK). In total, 564 graduate students completed the Interpersonal-Communication Transferable Skills (ICTS) questionnaire, a scale assessing a number of interpersonal skills needs. Results highlighted clusters of skills that are important across educational sectors and countries and also between group differences (educational sector, gender, countries).
