The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) asked the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA) to conduct two pieces of research which would both examine the profile of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) learning across the further education sector and inform the development of programme-led pathways through identification and verification of a number of key areas and issues. This is the second piece of research, the first entitled 'NVQs within FE: an investigation into full-time NVQ provision and uptake in the FE sector' (indexed at TD/TNC 81.438) was completed by LSDA in January 2004 and the executive summary is included in Appendix 2. The objectives to be achieved within this piece of research were to: identify current NVQ provision in further education (FE), examine the options for continuing NVQ learning outside of a framework and explore the relationship to, and impact of, emerging programme-led pathways on NVQ learning in FE.
