The authors consider the relationship between learning and working hours. Engaging in the 40-year debate on lifelong learning, they draw attention to an aspect that has not been subject to much scrutiny, namely time investments in the learning process. The volume analyses continuing vocational training management in enterprises and, with an eye towards locating deficiencies, consider the organisational framework of in-company continuing vocational training. Experiences with innovative in-company continuing vocational training are presented. The authors also address the framework required for the implementation of lifelong learning in terms of the organisation of time resources as well as legal issues and issues relating to collective agreements.
