The concept of e-learning has been described as a revolution, providing new approaches to learning and performance improvement. Yet it is a system which still has it's problems and challenges, with many unsure about how e-learning systems can be successfully implemented into real-life, complex organisations. The purpose of this handbook is to assist professionals who are attempting to convert e-learning promises into practice, and hopefully increase the odds for success. These include people such as trainers, programmers, instructional designers and human resources (HR) executives. Dozens of articles regarding e-learning have been gathered under this title, and various case studies are outlined. The handbook is comprised of six main parts: The state of e-learning; Developing great e-learning; Managing e-learning success: strategies that turn promises into performance; Is e-learning too good to be true?; E-learning for the e-learning professional: developing the people who will lead the field; E-learning at work: case studies.
