This report provides a summary of the findings of the Connecting National Initiatives project. The aim of this project was to: provide a map of key Australian National Training Authority (ANTA), Department of Science and Training (DEST) and other Commonwealth bodies and the projects and initiatives within their jurisdictions related to information and communication technology (ICT) that focus on education and/or flexible learning; and identify and briefly describe the major projects/initiatives and their key areas of interest which relate to the major goals of the Australian Flexible Learning (AFL) Framework. The report also makes recommendations on future linkages and strategies. It is presented in seven sections: the first section is the executive summary; sections two to four consider issues that arose from discussions with program leaders and project managers on which the Flexible Learning Advisory Group (FLAG) might initiate liaison activities; section five describes some additional observations that were made which are not covered in the issues discussed in the previous sections; section six discusses the development and maintenance of the project map; and the final section identifies strategies for enhancing communication and collaboration between the Framework and other initiatives.
