This chapter discusses professionalism of vocational education and training (VET) employees, and the reconstruction of VET professional profiles to incorporate the concepts of flexibility, transferability and mobility. The discussion is based on the circumstances of VET in Finland. Traditional processes of VET professionalism and the evolution of VET are examined. Questions are raised regarding the new professionalisation of VET workers, which incorporates broader occupational communities and informal learning as well as a recognition of new workplace demands. The new professionalism of VET requires the system's individual components to be restructured. Reflections on Finnish VET professionals' experiences provide further insight into VET transformations. A collaborative, cross-cultural and cross-functional educational approach that transcends traditional boundaries is required in the transformation of VET.
