This paper is taken from the third group session on Monday 22 July 2002 at the International Vocational Education and Training Organisation (IVETA) Conference. The author reviews the financial situation of vocational education and training (VET) in Botswana, and outlines the proposed funding for the Botswana VET system. The main source of VET funding in Botswana is the state. The Vocational Training Act of 1998 legally established VET funding. The paper examines support in Botswana for a levy/grant system, and the outcomes of such an incentive based scheme. It is concluded that a levy/grant system will improve VET for the people of Botswana.
