Amidst the bustles of corporate challenges, nothing seems to really stay. Organisations are adopting new ways of gaining markets and customer loyalty. The need to attain a long lasting competitive advantage calls for a complete overhaul of old systems and methods. Organisations have to establish mechanisms that facilitate change and dynamism. A culture that promotes learning in the light of strategic demands and environmental pressures has to be encouraged. 'Strategic learning' is an imperative in the present times. Learning objectives and methods need to be aligned to organisational strategies so as to produce results that lead to attainment of organisational vision. At the same time there is a need to foster a climate where learning is not considered a one-time program but rather an ongoing process. Organisations have to give up traditional ways of imparting learning and adopt a system that encourages people to assimilate and share knowledge on their own initiatives. This paper intends to focus on the need and importance of strategic learning [as] a fit between organisational strategies and organisational learning, in order to ensure sustainable growth. A model is proposed to show how strategic learning takes place.
