This yearbook presents the principal labour statistics for over 190 countries, areas or territories from around the world. Most of the tables cover the ten years from 1993 to 2002, although not all countries could supply series covering the whole period. The subjects are grouped in nine chapters, each with an explanatory note indicating the main characteristics of the different types of data published. These are: Economically active population; Employment; Unemployment; Hours of work; Wages; Labour cost; Consumer prices; Occupational injuries; and Strikes and lockouts. Where possible, separate data by sex are shown in tables on the economically active popoulation, employment, unemployment, hours of work, wages and occupational injuries. There is also an appendix of classifications used in the yearbook and references.
