AVETMISS: the standard for New Apprenticeships - Release 5.0 January 2004

The Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard (AVETMISS) offers a nationally consistent standard for the collection, analysis and reporting of vocational education and training (VET) information throughout Australia. This standard is designed to apply to VET information collected through New Apprenticeships for all persons employed under a training agreement (contract of training) and includes both apprentices and trainees. This Standard has undergone a minor review from Release 4.0 to Release 5.0, as a result of changes to the nationally agreed Apprenticeship/Traineeship training contract (through a process managed by the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA)). Changes and revisions to the files and fields are listed in the Section 1: Introduction - Changes and Revisions for AVETMISS Release 5.0. Guidelines have been reviewed and added to accommodate the changes. This Standard reflects national policy as at January 2004. However, the Standard will be subject to ongoing review in the light of future changes to national policy and practice in accordance with the agreed cycle of review.

Maximising confidence in assessment decision-making: current approaches and future strategies for quality assurance

This report provides a literature review and history of approaches to quality assurance of assessment in the vocational education and training (VET) sector in Australia and overseas. It also examines eight potential models that can be used by individual or groups of assessors within a training organisation. The models include a diagnostic assessment tool, an assessment principles checklist, and guidelines for the development of assessment instruments. The review of the literature reveals that Australian information on possible models and working examples is relatively limited. A related report providing background to the development of the resource kit is indexed at TD/TNC 69.09.
