'New teaching' for 'new teachers': a study of teachers' experiences of a 'new' in-service training programme for teacher development

Education in Greece is currently undergoing changes aimed at decentralisation, modernisation and quality improvement of the system as a result of global and regional changes. A critical analytic framework is developed from the literature on adult learning and effective in service training. Initial findings from a study of a new in service training program are reported and teachers' views on how adult learning is conceptualised, presented and experienced in this new program are summarised. Teachers' views and experiences are compared with the conceptual framework derived from the literature and questions about similarities and differences are identified.
