Education and opportunities - there are many other ways

This paper looks at access to education within the context of Australia's policy framework around issues of access and equity, exploring and discussing 'policy realities' as they impact on adult education for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It goes on to look at the nature of current education approaches and systems and whether they are appropriate and relevant in meeting the needs of a culturally diverse society. Current initiatives in providing alternative approaches in education where the population groups are involved in the planning, management and delivery of education to their own communities are explored.
