Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), a government-funded research institute, was established in 1997 for the purposes of contributing to the development of a sound system of lifelong vocational education and training (VET) for the Korean people. KRIVET has, since then, played a crucial role in the development of the VET sector in Korea. KRIVET conducted research on VET policies, disseminated information on occupations and employment, developed VET programs, investigated the qualifications system, contributed to the authorisation of private qualifications and the evaluation and assessment of ongoing VET and assisted in the implementation of government policies on supporting VET for the unemployed. As well, KRIVET has contributed to the development and implementation of the national policies on human resources development (HRD) and has promoted collaboration between countries. This document critically assesses the last five years and looks to the future of KRIVET.
