The paper provides an overview of a financing scheme in place in Denmark that has been implemented in the further education system and introduced in all education sectors. The system distributes funds for education and works on the principle that institutions are funded according to the number of active students enrolled. The system ensures efficiency and productivity in contrast to a system where funding is fixed and not dependent on the number of students. The system is robust and has been in operation for 12 years.
