Online education is not only part of the changing face of vocational education and training (VET), but has itself also had a change of face in the last six years. This paper explores what these changes have been and what online learning now means in the VET sector. Six years ago the primary focus of online learning was the design of learning materials. Now, in the VET sector, the teacher is still the centre of learning for most students and online learning has become part of a blended or hybrid delivery mode. Recent research by the authors suggests that these hybrid forms are preferred by many students and teachers and offer more flexibility and educational quality than pure online systems.
