'Training journal' provides current and practical information for those involved in workplace learning, training and development in the UK. The feature articles in this issue are: 'Leaders of the pack' by Khalid Aziz (p. 10-13) which highlights the need to develop the spoken communication skills of UK business executives and provides advice on all aspects of making presentations; 'Adding games to the training blend: how to get started' by Christine Elgood (p. 14-16) which provides a clear five-step process for designing effective games that are appropriate to the training need; 'Getting the best from your venue: the 12 commandments' by Suzy Howes and Mike Levy (p. 20-23) which gives advice on how to organise a venue for a training session that will leave a good impression on the participants; 'Online performance tools: how to use them to improve performance management' by Vandy Massey (p. 24-26). Also included in this issue is news on recent events, reviews of resource materials for trainers, and surveys and trends on the UK government's training initiatives and workplace reforms.
