'Curriculum perspectives' is a quarterly journal focusing on all matters relating to curriculum development, evaluation and theory. It is published by the Australian Curriculum Studies Association (ACSA). There are two editions: the journal edition (published in April and September) and the newsletter edition (published in June and November). This newsletter edition includes the following articles: 'PISA 2000' by Garry McLean (p. 6-7) which provides a summary of the first OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), highlighting the reading, mathematical and literacy results for Australia, key findings internationally, and the main policy messages from PISA for Australia (the publication 'Knowledge and skills for life: first results from the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2000' is indexed at TD/TNC 69.309); 'The new Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)' by Garry McLean (p. 8) outlines a new qualification being implemented by the Victorian government to improve the pathways from school to work and/or further education and training for young people; and ''Backpack Across Asia' at Calwell High School' by Kate Sutherland (p. 10) which briefly discusses the Calwell High School Curriculum Integration Model (CIM) project, a web-based project in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) which supports the integration of key competencies within the school. This issue also includes the ACSA 2001 annual report and financial statements.
