Report on government services 2002

The Review of Commonwealth/State Service Provision, established in 1993 by heads of governments in Australia, provides information on the performance of government-funded social services covering education, health, justice, community services and housing. The section on education (p. 43-148) contains two chapters: School education (p. 59-108); Vocational education and training (p. 109-148). The chapter on vocational education and training (VET) reports on VET services that receive government funding and includes provision of VET in TAFE institutes and universities with TAFE divisions, other government and community institutions, and publicly funded activity by private registered training organisations. The chapter is presented in seven sections: Profile of vocational education and training; Policy developments in vocational education and training; Framework of performance indicators; Key performance indicator results; Future directions in performance reporting; Jurisdictions' comments; Definitions. VET provision in schools is included in the chapter on school education.
