Learning communities: developments in Victoria

In Victoria, education and training is undergoing major change with a move towards learning communities which contribute to regional, economic and social development as well as to the personal and professional skills of their members. In this article, the authors explore the pathway towards this outcome and the progress that has been made so far. The background to this initiative, the roles of Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) and the development of educational precincts are described before the formation of learning communities is explained.
