This document outlines the South Australian State Government’s Futures Connect strategy which aims to support all South Australian government school students to complete Year 12 or its vocational equivalent and successfully make their transition to adult life. For the first time, students will be offered ongoing support after they leave school if required. It is envisaged that every government secondary school student in South Australia will soon have his or her own individual transition plan for moving through school and beyond. Futures Connect will address the Government’s commitment to increasing student retention and improving the connectivity of each young person with their education. The document outlines the strategy, the rationale behind it, the benefits for students, funding allocation, the differences between this strategy and previous vocational education initiatives, and the value of a whole-of-community approach to the education of young people.
