Formal and informal learning opportunities of first-line nurse managers

Formal and nonformal learning both have a role to play in effective workplace learning. This paper reports on research looking at the impact of health care system restructuring on the roles, leadership models, knowledge, skills and competencies of first-line nurse managers. How restructuring affects staff education and development is also examined.
