'Insight' is a quarterly newsletter published by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) to provide news and information on vocational education and training (VET) research and statistics. The contents of this issue are: 'Training adds to the bottom line' which highlights the benefits of investments in training for employers; 'TAFE and university graduates - what's the difference?' which outlines studies on the employment outcomes of TAFE and university graduates; 'TAFE: a smart choice for job seekers' which discusses the 2000 student outcomes survey; 'Business is the winner' which reports that business administration and management is the most popular field of study for students in the VET system; 'OECD study identifies changes to education-work transition' which reports on a new OECD study which suggests that participation in some form of upper secondary education is now almost universal in OECD countries; 'All you want to know about those terms' which explains why a glossary of VET has been produced; 'Total quality learning or total quality management?' which reports on a preliminary study aimed at finding out how teachers in the VET sector understood the term 'quality' and how it is put into practice within TAFE institutes; 'UK skills shift from manual focus' which reports on a national project in the UK looking at the skills and qualifications of the workforce; 'Apprentices and trainees in Australia 1985-1999' which highlights a recent NCVER publication which provides an historical context for information about apprentices and trainees; and 'An alert to managers of training organisations' which discusses three projects investigating aspects of the issue of management and leadership in VET. Where documents are available online, URLs are provided and all reports are indexed in the VOCED database once they are published.
