This paper reports on research which investigated an innovative approach in which English as a second language (ESL) learners used photography in a learner centred workplace literacy program. The intention of the autodocumentary use of photography was to facilitate language learning by gaining insight into the ways these workers perceived their lives, work and learning in a new culture. As well, the research also assessed the ways in which they adapted to and/or changed their workplace environment.
