HRD practitioners for changing roles

The growing interest in work-related learning and the declining role of the traditional trainer have raised issues about the roles and competencies of trainers and human resource developers in work organisations. Arising out of this concern, staff at the Centre for Continuing Vocational education at the University of Sheffield developed a Masters course in Training and Development. This article describes the development and evaluation of this course, including outcomes of on-course evaluation, longitudinal evaluation of learner outcomes, outcomes of longitudinal evaluation, and a discussion of the main findings.
