'Places of Learning: Situated Literacy in Museums in Nova Scotia' is a two-year postdoctoral research project which brings together adult learners and community museums. The aim is to bring together adult learners and community museums and provide mutually enriching informal learning opportunities. This article profiles four women learners who engaged in learning that was both guided and self-directed and looks at how they became museum-based researchers. The article also addresses the issue of folklore in literacy learning and research.
