In this paper on leadership, the author argues that there are differences between leadership and management. In today's rapidly changing environment, there is growing recognition of the need for a new type of leadership, both in the private and public sectors. The author begins by discussing the changing relationship between leadership and management, and then he looks at the competencies and behaviour of effective change leaders. He identifies seven competencies that leaders need and five key aspects about the behaviour of effective change leaders.
