The emphasis of this paper is on the need to create a lifelong learning culture based on African ways of life. It outlines the aims of lifelong learning in Africa, the programs of lifelong learning that are relevant to Africa, the problems that need to be tackled before lifelong learning can be achieved and the built-in sustainability features of African countries that could be utilised to enhance the creation of a lifelong learning culture.
