In this paper, the author uses the Arab world, and in particular Egypt, as a model to show how the cultural identity of each society can be preserved, emphasised and protected in the face of globalisation. The focus of the paper is on the Islamic religion and the purpose is to identify the basis, values and moral principles of Islam to show the importance of adult education and lifelong learning.
