This paper, presented at the Conference on Lifelong Learning organised by the European Trade Union Confederation, describes the current developments in lifelong learning in the following European countries: Austria; Germany; Britain; Sweden; Netherlands; France; Belgium; Italy; Norway; Portugal; Finland; and Denmark. The focus is on continuous vocational training for adults in relation to financial, time and organisational resources needed for gaining to lifelong learning in these countries.
