This paper presents an Indian model of a cooperative arrangement between polytechnics and industries seeking to link instructional processes with industrial-field practices. It begins by presenting the scenario of polytechnic-industry interface, then outlines the importance of technical education and industry to work closely with each other before discussing how the model was developed and implemented. The author concludes that the education-work linkages created: (1) a better understanding of the industrial environment by teachers; (2) improvements in students' transfer skills; (3) more purpose in the teaching-learning process; and (4) employment opportunities for students in organisations they were placed in.
