Although the importance of multimedia-assisted learning continues to grow, hopes that the introduction of new media would in and of itself lead to innovation in the education sector have proven to be misplaced. The design and implementation of new education media must be conducted in a professional way. Multimedia and Internet-based training offerings only contribute to solving specific education objectives and problems when the basic media concept is geared precisely to the specific conditions of the didactic field. The model for design-oriented media methodology presented in the textbook at hand describes how media-didactic concepts can be derived from analyses of the didactic field. The textbook provides practical examples and conveys the foundations for the professional design and production of multimedia-based training offerings.
