The TAFE frontiers project 'Flexible learning planning and management resources' identifies challenges presented by flexible learning to managers in vocational education and training (VET) and emphasises the role of managers in planning, managing and developing flexible learning from a strategic management perspective. The project produced a number of professional development resources for flexible learning released as part of the 'Building FlexAbility' series. This paper forms part of these professional development resources and was presented at the TAFE frontiers and VISTA forum on flexible learning in the workplace. One of the most important aspects of planning for the future for managers in VET is making decisions about resource allocation and these decisions need to supported with sound analyses of available data. This guide for TAFE managers provides a summary of new and emerging jobs, the skills and knowledge required in them, and where to get more information about them.
