Proceeding from a stock-taking and critical assessment of caring practice and training, the author tries to formulate a subject-oriented framework for training in the area of care. Toward this effort, she develops a two-dimensional concept of the subject: on the one hand the patient that the caring professional will deal with daily is integrated, on the other hand developments in subject-oriented training programs for caring personnel are described. The author also considers whether existing training concepts for caring personnel already display subject-orientation or whether new concepts must be developed. The interdependencies between social development and training for nurses are also taken into account.
