A study conducted by the Fraunhofer Institut IPK on knowledge management in Germany and several European countries and various industry sectors finds that half of all enterprises have increased their productivity and reduced costs through knowledge management. The authors describe how knowledge management activities can be integrated into day-to-day work processes, how individuals can be motivated to take part in knowledge management and what skills and qualifications are needed for knowledge management. The results of the benchmarking study are presented, as are best practice examples for knowledge management.
