Successful caring personnel not only require mastery of specialised knowledge, but also transferable skills to manage training and everyday work situations. Such skills include the ability to create relationships with individuals in need of care, the ability to work in multi-profession teams and the ability to navigate the tension between theory and practice. The focus of the handbook is a consideration of 12 core skills that are of central importance to the caring professions. The individual sections are organised as an integrated learning program: theoretical exercises are alternated with practical tips and suggestions.
