The flexible delivery of training in workplaces is widely regarded as a powerful tool to aid the development of skills and knowledge. However there is evidence both from research and practice that some major barriers to its successful implementation exist. This publication reports on research that was designed to identify strategies that may be available to support learner development and workplace development and that are feasible for implementation in operating workplaces faced with different sets of competing priorities. The research was also intended to provide a basis for making suggestions for the implementation of feasible strategies.
