Lifelong learning: demand and supply issues - some questions for research

This paper focuses on learning beyond schooling for the working age population. The author raises some questions for research on higher education linkages with changing labour market requirements. The first section of the paper briefly discusses meanings and purposes of the lifelong learning agenda. The second section describes current patterns of Australian educational participation and attainment in continuing education and training. The third section examines issues related to the developments in the demand for continuing education and training. The final section of the paper considers issues associated with developments in the supply of continuing education and training, and their interactions with demand.
