- Learning preferences of TAFE and university students
-
This study examined the similarities and differences between TAFE students and university students using a learning preferences inventory. Learning preferences were chosen for investigation on the basis of previous theoretical work which suggests that it is preferences that are most influenced by environmental factors. The study shows significant similarity between the learning preferences of the two groups of students. However, there were also significant differences and it is suggested that these differences may be more observable at a preferences level than at an approaches to study level.

- Australian vocational education and training statistics 2001: student outcomes survey at a glance: Tasmania
-
This publication presents a summary of information gained from the national survey of students who undertook vocational education and training (VET) during 2000 at a TAFE institute in Tasmania. Information is given about two groups of students: graduates and module completers. Graduates were those students who completed their course during 2000 and graduated with a qualification. Module completer information was collected on students who successfully completed part, but not all, of the training necessary to complete a full qualification and had left the TAFE system at the time of the survey. The survey gathered information on the employment situation of TAFE graduates, reasons for undertaking the course, relevance of the training to their employment, satisfaction, and further study intentions. This document contains a summary of the data collected and a brief look at some of the findings from analysis of these data.

- Testing the feasibility strategies to enhance flexible delivery in the workplace
-
Previous published research (Robertson, Smith and Wakefield 2001, TD/TNC 68.92; Smith 2001, TD/TNC 67.58; Smith 2000, TD/TNC 64.529; Smith 2000, TD/TNC 64.119) on the learning preferences and strategies of vocational education and training (VET) learners and the support required in the workplace, has shown that strategies need to be developed to enhance the preparedness of both learners and workplaces to engage in successful flexible delivery. This paper reports on a research project in progress designed to test the feasibility for implementation in workplaces of strategies developed as a result of the previous research with the intention of ensuring the necessary preparedness.
