The effect of firm-based training on earnings

This working paper reports on a project which addresses the effect of the provision of training by Australian enterprises, including structured on-the-job training, on employees' earnings. Two reports are included. The first gives the results of regression analyses of the 1997 Survey of Education and Training (SET) conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). These analyses indicated that for males there was substantial variation in the size of the effect of structured training across categories of both education and occupation, but that variation did not correspond with the incidence of structured training reported for those categories. The second report provides further analyses of the SET and places them in the context of the international results.
