Learning through TAFE for voluntary and paid work: a survey of TAFE students

In late 2000 the Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (CEET) undertook a pilot survey of students in two Victorian TAFE institutes, one in Melbourne and the other in a regional area. The survey had four main objectives: to investigate TAFE's current contribution to volunteer training; to investigate whether there were differences between students in the metropolitan and the regional institutes; to investigate whether there were differences between students enrolled in various fields of study; and to investigate other factors which might be related to volunteering, such as gender, mode of attendance or English as a first language.
